Residential Landscape DesignClient’s preferences: no maintenance, green design, simple & elegant, good entertainment (sheltered
from weather) space in back corner, water features.
Design challenges: nothing was plumb or square on the site, no privacy, tight spaces, the lot is an odd
shape with not a single 90deg., drainage options were limited, varied elevations along the periphery, etc
Proposal: Very limited vegetation w/raised planters, hardscape variety in materials, terracing to yield more
useable area and easy M&O, perforated timber screening w/back-lighting for privacy screens in essential
areas, design for year round use & aesthetics, total self-contained drainage, roof water collection system cycles through water features (pools and fountains), minimal elements repeated throughout, band/ribbon theme meanders & alternates both in height & materials to visually tie in all spaces.
